FAMOUS PACIFIC SHIPPING APPOINTS GROUP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Press Release

The Famous Pacific Shipping Group, the fast expanding Asia-based NVOCC and freight services supplier, has appointed industry professional Oliver Ward to the newly-created post of Group Executive Director. Mr Ward will commence his role on January 1, 2008.

Mr Ward was appointed after an international executive search and one of his main functions will be to have overall responsibility for corporate management of the FPS Group of companies, reporting to the Executive Committee.

“I am privileged to become the first-ever Group Executive Director of the FPS Group. I will make it my task to ensure the group continues to revolve around its members and to strengthen the ties between the companies who are part of the network, as well as developing that network and the services delivered,” says Mr Ward.

Commenting on the appointment, Iskandar Zulkarnain, Chairman of the FPS Group Executive Committee reflected that the stringent recruitment process had provided the right candidate to take on this important role.

“Our decision to appoint a Group Executive Director is a reflection of how far we have developed as a global provider of freight forwarding and logistics services since the Group was established. We undertook an international search for the best candidate and we are confident we have found in Oliver exactly the right individual,” says Mr. Zulkarnain.

Mr Ward, who is aged 46 and is married with two children, has worked in shipping the shipping since 1980. During his career, which has seen roles in the UK, Spain, Hong Kong and Uruguay, he has gathered a wealth of relevant industry experience to bring to the position of Group Executive Director.

“The Famous Pacific Shipping Group faces similar issues to those I addressed when I was Commercial Director at the UK-based Overseas Shippers Association so I am confident that I can bring added-value to my work within the network. The OSA worked very closely with Overseas Movers Network International (OMNI) which meant that I was closely involved with the development of OMNI’s networking function, experience which I can bring to FPS group,” says Mr Ward.

He adds: “My career has also given me considerable experience and knowledge of shipping and the working environment in South America, North America, Europe, South East Asia and the Far East, as well as West Africa, which I am also able to bring to my role at FPS Group.”
